A competition-winning design for a new visitor centre for Thurrock Thameside Nature Park for Essex Wildlife Trust.
The park has been created out of the former Mucking landfill site, and aims to restore the natural wildlife habitats of the area. It provides views over the Mucking Mudflats SSSI and Thames Estuary SPA.
The Visitor Centre provides a meeting room for local schools, and other classes such as yoga, a café with views over the park, and information and education resources for all visitors to the park.
There is also a “snug” which can host community events. The innovative circular design demonstrates low energy sustainable design and technology for visitors, and provides step-free access to the rooftop terrace.
