Originally two terraced cottages (one larger than the other), now forming a single double fronted dwelling, however the appearance and layout still reflects that of two separate houses.
The house also sits on a very small plot with almost no outside space, however the view to the rear is of a beautiful ancient wood and a secluded valley beyond.
Our client gave us a brief to improve the internal flow and to maximise the views from the house to the rear, whilst also increasing the natural light in the cottage.

Our proposal reorganises the interior to give more usable space by moving the front door from one of the original cottages to the other, and enlarging the living room into what was previously the hall.

The biggest change comes to the rear of the living room, where we have made a large sliding corner window with a window seat, which reveals the view of the wood from the dining space, giving the impression of being in a tree house.
